O Vertigo

Event Title: Onde de choc (Shock Wave)
Event Date: Dec. 1-3, 2011 8PM
Event Location: Sir James Dunn Theatre

Internationally acclaimed company O Vertigo makes its Halifax debut with Onde de choc, founder/choreographer Ginette Laurin’s hymn to the body’s internal forces. Her company of eight athletic dancers tackle the stage with growing abandon, driven by the heart’s unstoppable rhythms and the need for physical contact. Electro-acoustician, Martin Messier, gives musical shape to that raw rhythm, and British composer, Michael Nyman, orchestrates counterpoints with lyrical overtones. Their arresting score combines with stunning visuals to create a work that is primal, fragile and flush with desire.

“…A true success, Onde de choc will carry knowledgeable audiences and novices along in the same wave.” La Scena Musicale, Montreal
